Zeno Renewables is proud to announce that co-CEOs, Gursh Bal and Kai Fahrion, have been named recipients for the 2022 Calgary Top 40 Under 40 by Avenue Magazine in association with connectFirst Credit Union and the University of Calgary.
The award recognizes local individuals under the age of 40 who demonstrated extraordinary achievement in propelling their city forward through their work and involvement in the community.
“We’ve been able to provide solar solutions in a province that’s heavily focused on fossil fuels,” Fahrion stated when reflecting on the pair’s recent achievement. “We’re changing the game in Alberta when it comes to diversifying its energy portfolio and allowing individuals to have access to affordable residential solar solutions. We’re doing all of this while creating jobs for the economy.”
With no prior experience in running a business, Bal and Fahrion took a risk by quitting well paying jobs to start a company dedicated to securing the planet for future generations. Seven years later, the risk is beginning to pay off.
Since its inception in 2015, Zeno has installed solar solutions on over 1,292+ homes in Western Canada, equivalent to offsetting 271 million kg of carbon in its 25-year lifespan. To date, Zeno has hired over 85 employees all dedicated to achieving the goal of installing solar solutions on 1 million homes by 2040.
As a young company, Zeno has garnered positive attention by consumers and award organizers. This includes becoming one Canada’s best and highest rated solar solutions company on Google, winning the Southern Consumer Choice Awards for three consecutive years in a row, and recently winning the 31st Alberta Emerald Award in the business category.
When it comes to Zeno’s secret to success, Bal and Fahrion humbly attribute it back to the team and their contributions over the years.
“Kai and I are just electricians. All we had was a vision for a better world. The people who have joined as along the way and on in this journey are people who believe in us, and we believe in them in return,” Bal exclaimed. “There’s just a lot of really good people trying to do something good and it seems to be working.”
