About the Edmonton Oil Kings:
The Edmonton Oil Kings are a major junior hockey team based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. They are one of 22 member teams of the Western Hockey League (WHL) and, subsequently, one of 60 teams that comprise the Canadian Hockey League (CHL). After previous stints in the WHL from 1951-76 and 1978-79, the franchise was reincarnated into the modern era at the commencement of the 2007-08 season.
Since 2007-08, the Oil Kings have seen 26 players selected at the NHL Draft; 11 of those players chosen in the first two rounds. As of the 2023-24 campaign, they have graduated 18 players who have gone on to play in the National Hockey League.
